Say for instance I’m holding a QQ, then an ace hits the flop and one player bets. What do I do? Say I make a straight, but there is a flush maybe? Where am I in this game? |

Well for this QQ thing, For the straight on a flush board, like many factors it depends. Do you have the nut straight or do you have the other thing, the arse end? What are the patterns of betting in this game? situation? Consider the players in the pot. How many are there? Think of the stack sizes compared to the pot. All this stuff is really important to think about.
Reads and hands are hard to sum up. I think most of the times knowing what to do only comes from the ability to look at the situation from a third person perspective and experience. You need to figure it out based on betting patterns, reads, position all the stuff I have already mentions and the skill to be able to figure out if you are likely to be behind or ahead after your move.
Lots of the time It’s a very close choice for me and I could choose either one. It totally depends for each individual player. For instance, at $5.50 up against an unknown opponent, some cards like AK that hits an A or K on the flop can be the optimal hand. If they have a set or a two pair which is random I pay em. |
