Precision dice have a smooth surface with no pips, while traditional dice usually have a concaved surface with holes for the pips. Precision backgammon dice are made out of plastic and were first introduced to casinos during the last century. They come in precise shapes and forms and it is quite easy to find them in sizes small, medium and large at most backgammon suppliers.
