Download Backgammon SoftwareIts important to know all there is to know about using the backgammon doubling cube. If your understanding of the subject is poor, you will be completely unable to make reasonable decisions about using the backgammon doubling cube, and win or lose, you will stand to lose a lot of money, either by not winning as much money as you could have won, or by actually losing more money then you should have.

Using the backgammon doubling cube is actually very simple. At the beginning of the game, the cube is placed in the middle of the backgammon board with 64, its lowest value, facing up. Whenever a player wants to, he can turn the cube to its next lowest number, and give it to his opponent. This is a challenge to either continue the game at double the stakes, or resign and forfeit the current stakes. The other player must choose between those two options, and cannot stay in the game with out accepting the higher stakes. Before the first double, any player can decide to offer the cube, but once it has been accepted by a player, that player owns the cube, and only he can choose the offer it again. So if the cube is offered to you, you can double up knowing that it will be the last double in the game if you want it to be. Remember though, that offering the cube also hands your opponent the chance to force you to double up again or resign immediately whenever he wants to.

Using the backgammon doubling cube is an art of itself. You should make sure you know all there is to know about when to accept and when to offer a double. Reading on line backgammon tutorials and backgammon books is a great way to get a good grasp on this all important aspect of the backgammon game.
