While backgammon directions may initially sound a little complex, it is generally believed that this is one of the simplest games to learn out of all the gambling board games around. In most cases, it is simply a matter of applying what is learned into practice to truly understand the backgammon directions.
Once the backgammon board has been set up according to a specific procedure that is the same for every new game, the players start the game. The first player to begin is the one who throws the highest number on the dice. The dice roll indicates how many points the player can move his checkers and backgammon directions are always in the forward direction from a higher point number to a lower one. The aim of the game is to move all the checkers from their points into the player's home board and then to bear them all off. The winner is the player who manages to do so first.
A single game piece on a point is called a blot. If the player manages to land on a blot, the opponent's checker is sent off to the bar and needs to reenter the game before the player can move any other checkers. When all fifteen checkers are in the homeboard, the player can start to bear off. Backgammon directions may differ between variations of the game but the general idea remains the same for all of them. It is advisable, though, to check the different instructions and rules of each new game played. |
