If you are interested in leaning how to play the game of backgammon, the first step you need to take is to learn how to set up a backgammon board. Backgammon layout is easy to get the hang of once you understand how to determine the placement of your fifteen checkers and those of your opponent.
In order to determine the placement of the checkers at the beginning of the backgammon game, you must understand the backgammon board. A backgammon board is made up of four quadrants known as your home board and out board and your opponent's home board and out board. Within each quadrant are six long triangular points, for a total of twenty-four points. These are the points to which you move your checkers around the board and these points also help to determine the backgammon layout.
In order for these points to help you set up your backgammon board you must number them from one to twenty-four, beginning in the outermost corner of your home board and ending in the outermost corner of your opponent's home board. Your one point is your opponent's twenty-four point and vice versa. Once you have numbered these points you are ready to set up the backgammon layout. |
