The game of backgammon is a fun but complex hobby that is enjoyed by game lovers across the globe. While the game seems simple, it is nearly impossible to win without a basic grasp of backgammon strategy. The following are a few tips for playing backgammon that should help you to get your backgammon game rolling.
One of the most important tips for playing backgammon is to be bold! Don't be afraid to make daring moves, especially early in the game. Leave checkers exposed in order to create stepping-stones through your opponent's homeboard in order to advance you later in the game. This is the best way to advance your game, but there are still more tips for playing backgammon that will increase your odds tenfold!
One of these other great strategies for your game is blocking your opponent. By situating your checkers early in the game in rows in your homeboard (specifically on the 4, 5 and 6 points) you prevent your opponent from being able to enter your homeboard thereby holding back their game. Put two or more of your checkers in these spaces and your opponent is trapped.
Finally, any experienced backgammon player will advise you to wait to hit your opponent until you are sure the move is advantageous to you. Before hitting you must be sure that you aren’t exposing yourself, leaving your checker open to enemy attack.
If you heed these simple tips for playing backgammon, your game will improve in no time flat! |
