Download Backgammon SoftwareOne of the most daring options available to fans of internet Blackjack is the opportunity to Double Down. Players may choose to Double Down after they have been dealt their first two cards. Along with taking a Hit, Standing, and Splitting a pair, players can also choose to Double Down. This option involves a player doubling their original bet, taking a hit of one card, and then standing until the game's end.

Doubling Down is a dead-end option for internet Blackjack players because it leaves them with no alternatives should the results not be to a player's liking. Due to the fact that a player cannot make any changes to their hand after choosing to Double Down, the player essentially agrees to end their internet Blackjack game after the Double Down has been performed. Once they are Hit, they have no choice but to Stand for the remainder of the game. If the Hit is not to a player's liking, the player may not accept another Hit.

Choosing to Double Down is a risk in internet Blackjack, but one that can pay off handsomely. Since the original bet is doubled, players can win a lot of money if their decision to Double Down gives them a hand with a high value close to 21. Players are advised to take this option when they're holding a hard total of 10 or 11, including a 5-5 pair (unless the dealer's up card is an Ace or 10).
