If you are new to the game of backgammon, there is one secret you should be aware of. This secret is that the best backgammon strategy is to be bold! That's right - don't make "safe" moves the entire game. Safe moves will make it impossible for you to finish the race to your home board and to bearing off all of your checkers before your opponent.
The best backgammon strategy is to make bold moves early in the game. Try to get as many of your checkers ahead as possible in order to decrease your pip count and increase your chances of beating your opponent. If you are worried about leaving blots around the board, just think about how a large factor in the game of backgammon is luck and it is highly probable that your opponent won’t even roll a number that can hit you.
If your opponent does end up hitting you while you are trying to be bold, you can simply employ the next best backgammon strategy, which is strengthening your backgame. You can use the hit blots in order to create blockades and anchors in your opponent's home board. Creating this points which your opponent cannot use in his own home board will greatly hinder his game while also giving you landing points should he hit more of your checkers. You can even set up blots to be hit intentionally in order that you will use them to strengthen your backgame even more. This too is a bold move, which is part of the best backgammon strategy. |
