Backgammon is an ancient game which is popular around the globe. It's a game that almost everyone knows how to play, so it's fun to also understand and play the game. The one thing that beginner players often never remember how to do is the backgammon board set up.
This is simple once you understand the basic components which make up a board. First of all you need a board. This should consist of twenty four black triangles (these are called points) and a center strip titled the bar. The next thing you need in a backgammon board set up is checkers. You'll need fifteen for each player. You also need dice, and a doubling cube.
Please make sure to understand the way backgammon points are numbered. According to player one, his point one starts at his or her closest right hand corner. The points go up in number in a clockwise direction with player one's point twenty four being at his or her farthest right hand section. Remember the points are numbered the opposite for player two who's point one is player one's point twenty four.
The checkers should be placed on the points as follows…Point six has five checkers, point eight has three checkers, point thirteen has five checkers and point twenty four has two checkers. Each player needs to follow this formula with their checkers on their own points. If you are still unclear about this there are many diagrams on the internet which you can look up. |
