Backgammon is a really fun game. The average person knows how to play so it's a great game to be good at and maybe even gamble with. In backgammon gambling you can add a lot of suspense to the game. Playing with high stakes is another way to make this game filled with risk.
What are stakes? This is the amount of money or other thing you choose to gamble with when playing backgammon. A stake could be that each game is worth one point and each point represents a free dinner that the winner receives. One way to double the stakes is by scoring a gammon. How is that accomplished? Well to make a gammon you have to bear off all your checkers before your opponent has all his in his or her home board. When you score a gammon the stakes are doubled. If the game was worth one point, after you score a gammon, the game is worth two.
This move is possible if you have the skills to get your opponent in that kind of position. One way to attain these skills is by practicing on the internet. Remember the more you play, the higher your skill level increases. When you play online you can choose to be in tournaments where you are introduced to a plethora of different players with styles and game skills that can really be challenging. It's also recommended to look online and research different game strategies and tips which take you from an amateur player to an advanced one. |
