Download Backgammon SoftwareScoring in the game of backgammon is slightly irregular. You can win different amounts of points depending on the position of your opponent's checkers. A normal win, for instance, occurs when your opponent's checkers have all made it to his or her home board before you have borne your checker off. This win is worth one point. A gammon occurs when you have finished the game but your opponent still has at least one checker within either out board. A gammon is worth two points. The most prestigious win is a backgammon, which is worth three points.

Scoring a backgammon can be very exciting to a backgammon player, as it is very hard to achieve. A backgammon occurs when you bear all your checkers off and your opponent still has at least one checker on the bar or in your home board. This type of win is worth three points. Scoring a backgammon is difficult because it is nearly impossible to keep your opponent trapped while you are bearing off checkers. As you clear more and more of your checkers from the board more space is made in your home board for your opponent to escape, usually causing you to win a gammon instead.

Scoring a backgammon can be done if you start off with a primed or blockaded home board and several of your opponent's checkers on the board. After all, it takes more time for your opponent to re-enter four checkers than one. Aside from that, scoring a backgammon is mostly the luck of the roll.
