| I have a question about bg game rules. Are there any rules about a situation where you roll the dice and the outcome is one in which if you move a checker for one die you won’t be able to use the other but you can choose which of the two you want to use? For example, if I roll a 4-2 and only have one checker that I can move either four points or two points but not six is there any rule that inhibits my choice? |

| Actually, yes, there is a rule in this sort of situation. If you have to choose between two rolls and can’t move both then you must play the higher number. If the lower number is the only one you can play then go ahead, that isn’t a problem. But if you have the option to choose one or the other you must choose the high number. |

| Thank you, your response was very helpful. I just have one more question—does this rule still apply when you are trying to re-enter a checker from the bar? I have a friend that thinks that there is an exception to the rule when you are moving a checker from the bar, but I disagreed. Can anyone solve our dispute? |

Sure, this rule always applies… ALWAYS!
A lot of people like to manipulate the rules when it is to their advantage. For instance, maybe your friend said this was an exception to the rule because he was in a situation where he rolled in with a 4-3 and he had to choose between them and the four was open and you had a blot on the three point. In any case, it’s good to be up on all the rules so no one will try to fool you in the future. |
