Thanks to the popularity of backgammon in recent years, new players can find a wide variety of resources to help them master the game. One tried and true method is reading recommended backgammon books. And no matter if you're a beginner or a more serious player looking to improve your game, you can find the right backgammon book for you.
Beginners would do well to pick up a copy of "Backgammon" by Paul David Magriel Jnr. According to most backgammon players, this is top of the list of recommended backgammon books and highly successful at teaching newbies the ropes. While newer volumes than "Backgammon" are available, this book never seems to go out of style and is highly praised for its comprehensive diagrams which illustrate each point in the text.
If you're further on than the beginners and want to solidify your knowledge of backgammon, another of the most highly recommended backgammon books is Paul Magriel's "Backgammon." This book promises to help intermediate players embark upon the journey to becoming a more advanced player. In-depth revision is covered, along with strategies that have proven successful for many backgammon pros.
Finally, if you're looking for solutions to common backgammon conundrums, Bill Robertie's "Backgammon For Serious Players" presents a look at the most common backgammon problems. Among other recommended backgammon books on problem-solving is "Paradoxes and Probabilities - 168 Backgammon Problems" by Barclay Cooke and "How to Play Tournament Backgammon" by respected backgammon expert and author Kit Woolsey. Don't hesitate to stock up on these volumes as they are destined to be classics for years to come and will serve as a useful reference point for you in your backgammon career. |
