| Hi. As a new player I’m after information about backgammon. Could anybody point me in the direction of a printed backgammon magazine that is worth its price? I know that online magazines exist but I am specifically after printed versions. Thanks in advance. |

Hi there.
“Inside Backgammon” used to be a great backgammon magazine. Unfortunately, however, it has discontinued. There is the option of ordering back copies of the magazine. These won’t help you with current events, obviously, but you may find it useful to refer to these magazines for theoretical information and past discussions.
In addition, you have several good backgammon newsletters in print form. Some that come to mind include Chicago Point, Backgammon News and Bibafax. The latter is a magazine of the British Isles Backgammon Association and goes out six times a year. It is available in full color.
If you were willing to consider online magazines, your choice would be much broader. A great one out there is Kit Woolsey’s publication, Gammonline. One of the online matches between Woolsey and his readers is available in a print version. Another match was also adapted to print form and can be found in Woolsey’s book, “Amateur vs. Pro”. This may seem pretty obvious, but I will mention it anyway: If you subscribe to an online backgammon magazine, you always have the choice of printing all or any of the information so that you have a printed version. This may seem to be your best choice if the printed magazines are not what you are after. |
