Here are the basics of what you need to know to play. Follow these backgammon directions in order to succeed. First, the number of points moved along is determined by the role of the backgammon dice - each die counts for one move. The move can be divided between two checkers, or taken by one in two moves: if the role is a three and a four, then one checker can move three spaces, and another one four, or the same checker can move three and then four.
In online backgammon directions, a checker can only make a successful move if there is an empty point to land on, or if there is a single checker of the opponent's, called a blot. When one lands on a blot, making a hit, the checker is removed to the middle bar, and the player of that checker must first return it to his or her outer board with a successful role before continuing to move other checkers homeward. When doubles are rolled on the backgammon dice, double the amount shown on the dice is allowed to be moved.
There are three levels of winning in online backgammon directions: a single win, which bears off checkers first; a gammon, which bears off all the player's checkers before the opponent has any in his or her home board; and a backgammon, when all the checkers are off while the opponent still has some in his or her outer board. Follow these important backgammon directions; enjoy your game, and good luck! |
