Wouldn't it be great to be able to compete with backgammon players from all over the world, have the opportunity to win loads of money; and all this from the comfort of your home? This is possible through online backgammon tournaments. The game that you know so well is played in the exact same way, with there being one major difference, that being, that you don't have to work out the total pips (score). It is done automatically for you. Other than this online backgammon tournaments are played in exactly the same manor as anyone does live. There have been tournaments played online that are in association with large international tournaments. At these events the prizes rise to the millions.
The main question that you may ask is about online backgammon tournaments is about safety and cheating. There is always this element to take under consideration. Some people have been found to have used cheating software, however, when playing on the internet you don't see your opponent so you can never know if your opponent is being helped by another player-possibly someone very experienced. It is a chance that you have to take. What you can do to avoid this situation is only play in online backgammon tournaments that have been approved before hand, and that you know are safe.
Another complaint that is frequently asked is that the dice are rigged when playing backgammon online. People often claim to see many more doubles, or that the computer deliberately gives them the worse roll at the worst possible time. This is NOT TRUE!! Just as in real life, dice are entities on their own and there is no predicting what you might roll. It all depends on how lucky you are and if you have the magic flick of the wrists, or in this case click of the mouse. |
