Listen all poker players need to follow the basic rule that they should stay away from playing with complete trash. Most of the reverse implied odds are not favorable to totally bad cards. A good example is that you are at the game and you decide to play T59 thinking that f you hit the flop you’ll be ok, then the flop comes and 46T and you pot it and then you get check raised. Oof! What are you going to do now? It is probable that you have the best hand, but much more likely that you don’t, but then you jut put some money in the pot when really you were supposed to fold in the pre flop. Duh!!!
Some really trashy poker hands are more valuable than other ones. Some disguised hands that have good implied odds are a good example. The other day I was playing this guy who had been a little bit too egotistical and knew that I would stack off if I hit the flop hard. I had 35s in the SB and he potted it from the cut off. It was a pretty regular fold, but since I knew that I could stack him I called. The flop came 245 and I got top pair and an OESD and he bets, I decide to raise and he raises and then I tanked. Given the way I saw he played was 90% sure he had two overs and was trying to buy it so I called, the turn brings and ace, he pushes on it and I stack him with my straight and he had a AJ. Here my trash hand did work. |
