If you're new to backgammon, you are likely to have many questions. How can you learn successful backgammon strategies to beat your opponent? How can you improve your backgammon game and find new opponents to play against? And how can you build up the necessary confidence to use the doubling cube to your advantage? All of these questions have answers which you will need to find in due course. However, the first thing you need to learn is the backgammon setup.
To play backgammon, you will need the following: a backgammon board, two sets of 15 checkers of different colors, a doubling cube and two precision dice. The backgammon board is divided into four sectors which offer each player a home board and an outer board. A bar separates the board in the centre. 24 triangles in alternating shades of white and black are displayed on the board's surface. The backgammon setup requires each player to place his checkers on the correct points on the board.
If you have trouble remembering the backgammon setup, you can easily find books and online resources to help jog your memory. You can print off diagrams that you find online and keep them alongside your backgammon board so that you can quickly learn how the backgammon setup works. You may also like to try playing backgammon online. The advantage to playing the game over the internet is that the board is automatically set up for you. You can study the board when you're getting ready to play the game and take note of the starting position of the checkers. Setting up the board is relatively easy and is one aspect of backgammon that you will be doing as easily as the professionals in no time. |
