Are you looking to find some simple backgammon rules? Maybe you're about to play the game for the first time or you need to refresh your memory about a specific aspect? Either way, backgammon rules are easy to find and just as easy to master.
Learning the rules of the game can be as simple as the internet search you carry out to find them. Most online backgammon sites will have a section dedicated to clearly explaining the backgammon rules adhered to. Backgammon forums, books and magazines will also provide details on how the rules are applied to the game.
Remembering the basic backgammon rules is easy. To play backgammon, you need two dice, 30 checkers of two different colours (15 for each player), a backgammon board and a doubling cube if you intend to gamble on your game. Each player has a home board and an outer board and the aim of the game is to transport your checkers across the board toward your home board while avoiding your opponent's hits. If a checker is hit, it is placed on the bar which separates the backgammon board and must be played into the game again. Checkers are removed from the board in the final stages of the game. The first player to clear his home board of checkers wins.
These backgammon rules should be studied in more depth, along with diagrams on how to set up the backgammon board. Once you've played a few games, these should seem like second nature and you'll have mastered the basics. From there, you're ready to learn more about strategy and the psychology of the game in order to outwit your opponent and win consistently at backgammon. |
