Download Backgammon SoftwareA backgammon board is made up of 24 points. These are represented by triangles which are numbered differently depending on your position at the board. The points closest to you are numbered 1 to 12, with the corresponding points on the opposite side of the board numbered 13 to 24. Your opponent seated opposite you has the same view. So your 24 point is your opponent's one point. This is useful to remember when it comes to discussing
how to strip a point in backgammon.

Remember that you can have more than one checker on a point at any given time. However, while you may need to shift checkers around on their journey toward the home board, there is often little advantage in stacking a point too heavily. Knowing how to strip a point in backgammon simply means that you remove all but two of the checkers from this point. This means you leave the point fully occupied but free up your checkers to send them to other strategic points on the board.

Placing checkers on strategic points such as the fourth and fifth point can help you gain extra gammons when you're playing for points in a tournament situation. It can also help you in your strategy of slowing your opponent down and making it more difficult for him to transport all his checkers safely to his home board. This is when you need to evaluate the merits of knowing how to strip a point in backgammon.

Various forms of advice on how to strip a point in backgammon can be found in sections on online forums and in backgammon books that deal with backgammon strategy. It is recommended that you study up on this aspect of the game and find out which strategy works best for you.
