If you're looking for a fast-paced and entertaining game of poker, you may wish to try your hand at a game of Omaha online poker. Omaha is a poker variation derived from popular Texas Hold'em. While it is just as much fun to play, some of the rules vary slightly. The information below will highlight the main differences between the two poker games.
Omaha online poker can be played with two betting structures. Firstly, you may wish to use an "ante" system that is commonly used for home poker tournaments. This involves each player paying a fee to participate in a round. This fee goes directly to the pot and is claimed by the winner at the end of the game. An alternative to playing with ante bets is to post blinds as players do in Texas Hold'em. One player will post the big blind with a second player posting the little blind. This is generally half the amount of the big blind.
To begin a game of Omaha, the dealer gives each player four cards dealt face down on the table. This is different from Texas Hold'em where players initially receive two cards. Omaha online poker players then go about making up their poker hand as they would in any other game of poker but with one notable difference. A total of five community cards are dealt throughout the game. The winning hand must be made from two of the player's own hole cards and three community cards.
When played competitively, Omaha online poker is highly entertaining and offers Texas Hold'em fans the chance to put their poker skills to the test in a slightly different environment. It can also be just as lucrative as Texas Hold'em, especially if you play Omaha online at internet poker tournaments. |
