Learning to how to play backgammon is easy once you understand how to set up the board and how to move the checkers. The board is set up initially by placing the checkers on the black triangles which are called points. The points are numbered from one to twenty four. The checkers are placed on the assigned numerical points six, eight, thirteen and 24. You can find diagrams of this set up on the internet. Learning how to play backgammon isn't hard; just keep in mind the object of the game. You want to remember the object of the game is to be the first player to get all his chips in his home board and then bear them all off so he or she is left with no chips on the board.
To learn how to play backgammon you need to understand the way the checkers are supposed to be moved in relation to the dice. Two dice are rolled at the same time by the player. The two dice can be considered two separate moves, such as a roll of three and two. The player can move one checker three and a different checker two. In the instructions of how to play backgammon the checker can also be moved 5. This is the number which occurs when both dice are added together.
To play the game correctly, you also need to understand that a checker cannot just be moved anywhere. It always has to go to a higher point. Point 1 to point 2 for instance. The checker also can only move on an open point. This is when the point has less than two checkers on it from the opponent. If the point has your own checkers on that's ok. |
