Though you can never determine how the dice are going to behave at any moment, sometimes they are good to you and other times they aren't. There is nothing you can do about that. However, what you can do something about is to learn how to play backgammon with strategy and skill. When you know how to do this, luck is an added bonus since you will have the ability to control the game by anticipating your opponent's move and then counter acting it.
Here are some helpful tips that you might want to remember when you are learning how to play backgammon. To avoid wasting pips when bearing off, you should aim for a downward sloping formation of pieces. It is advisable to build a larger stack on point 6 sloping down to 3 or 4. Using this strategy will allow you to avoid the need to use high numbers to bear off from point 4 later in the game.
The second tip is "when you are a head - stay ahead". As you are playing and you see that you are winning by leaps and bounds and that you will be bearing off before your opponent does continue and you will be the champion.
Next time someone asks you do you know how to play backgammon make sure to keep these pointers in mind. You might just teach your opponent a thing or two and then he will think you are great and you will feel awesome knowing you have taught someone how to play backgammon. |
