I want to eventually become a professional poker player. How long does that take? If I play for two hours in a day or more how long will it take for me to get really good? |

There are obviously no strict rules for this. Everyone learns at a different rate and some players are just better than others without practice. It depends on you, but there is one important thing I have to point out. Don’t play for too long periods of time when you’re learning. Play and then think about how you played and then try again. |

Don’t listen to this guy. He’s wrong. Do you know that in the book Championship No-Limit & pot Limit Hold’em by T.j. Cloutier and Tom McEvoy, they wrote that from 1981 to 1982 they played no limit hold’em in Dallas from noon till 5:00 pm every Monday through Friday and from 7:00 pm till midnight or later five days a week? On Sundays they drove to a different casinos to play pot-limit hold’em. They were putting sixty hours a week, sometimes eighty playing these games and they did this for eleven years.
I mean come on? These guys are legends and playing constantly worked for them. I think every one learns differently. You know you need to play and get comfortable with the game. However you do that is up to you. Good luck man, just keep trying and you’ll do great. |
