| I need some advice regarding when to use the free drop. Specifically, I need to know after which rolls a player should drop and/or which rolls influence your drop and take decisions in a backgammon game. |

Hi there,
I hope the following is clear:
You should drop if you lose the opening roll and then don’t respond by either rolling doubles or pointing on your opponent’s head.
You should always take if you win the opening roll. Remember though that numbers 41 and 52 are borderline and it is a possibility that you can drop these two. |
