Thankfully we live in an age of choice and it is perfectly acceptable to make sweeping changes in our entertainment and gambling habits to keep up with the times. Many people are making that switch from live poker and choose to play online poker instead. What is it that makes players choose internet poker over traditional play?
The first reason is that players realize that they can hone in on fine skills if they choose to play online poker. When playing 'live', gamblers need to heed a lot to the opponents' body language and reactions. When playing online however, players need to concentrate on other factors such as betting speed, fold/flop percentages and the chat box in order to determine the type of players that they are up against. Another reason is the speed factor. Online poker does not have the delays commonly found in brick and mortar casinos, where an average rate of play is about 30 hands an hour. Instead, if a gambler chooses to play online poker, an average table runs at 90-100 hands per hour.
An excellent reason to play online poker is the fact that one can play multiple tables - something that would be physically impossible in a land casino. Not only does this add an element of fun and challenge to the game, but it also increases the player's chance of winning more in a shorter period of time. Finally, online poker affords players the opportunity to learn the game through free tutorials and software. This is something that is also not found in land-based poker rooms. When all is said and done, many players wonder why they didn't make the switch over long ago. |
