Online backgammon is a lively game that demands equal amounts of luck and skill. It is a universally enjoyed game, and these online backgammon directions are intended to help you learn to play, have fun, and win.
Backgammon is played by two players on a board which is marked by twenty four narrow triangles in alternating colors called points. The backgammon board is further divided into four quadrants, the closest on the left to each player being the home, or inner, board, with the opposite being the outer board (which is the home of the opponent). These are just a few of the basic backgammon directions to follow.
The points are counted from one to twenty four for each player outward from the home board (point one is point twenty four of the opponent) -these are key backgammon directions you must understand before you begin. Each player has fifteen round checkers, and each set is of a different color. In the middle of the board is a raised bar upon which checkers are placed when they are "hit" by the opposing player.
The object of backgammon is for a player to remove, or bear off, all of his or her checkers from the home board before the other player does. According to online backgammon directions, at the time of set up, the checkers are arranged with two checkers on each player's 24th point, five on the 13th point, three on the 8th point, and five on the 6th point. To start, each player roles one of the backgammon dice and the higher begins. The player moves his or her checkers along the points in the direction from the outer board to the home board. |
