If you've never played backgammon before, the following backgammon instructions will teach you how. Follow these simple rules to have an enjoyable time, which will hopefully whet your appetite for further backgammon games.
Firstly, let's look at what you need to play backgammon. Two dice will be responsible for the way in which you move your checkers around the board. A backgammon board will play home to 30 checkers, 15 of which will belong to you and the other 15 to your opponent. A doubling cube is used for the purpose of gambling, which gives you a greater incentive to learn the right backgammon skills. Once you have these objects, you're ready to follow backgammon instructions to set the board up with both sets of checkers and to toss the dice to determine which player will take the first turn.
One of the most important backgammon instructions you need to learn is the purpose of the game. Each player aims to be the first to move his checkers into his home board and remove them using a process known as “bearing off.” The first player to bear off is the winner.
You can move your checkers to any point on the board that is free or not already housing more than two of your opponent's checkers. If you land on one of your opponent's checkers, you are hitting it. As a result, it will return to the bar area which runs down the centre of the backgammon board. Your opponent must play it back into the game before he can move any of his other checkers. If you follow the above backgammon instructions, you will quickly pick up the flow of play and be able to enjoy one of the world's favorite board games. |
