Flags Next to Names

I’m new to online backgammon and I’ve noticed something at sites that I don’t quite understand. What are those flags next to other players’ names on the sites?

This is a neat feature offered by online backgammon sites to make connecting with other players that much easier. You’ll notice that the flags are those of other countries. So, for example, a UK flag next to someone’s name means that he or she is from England. You’ll find the online backgammon gaming allows you to play against players from around the globe.
