Sometimes knowing which action to take next with one's cards in a Blackjack online game is an obvious decision. For example, after being dealt a low in-hand total between 5 and 8, most players instinctively know that Hitting is their best option. The same goes for players with a total between 17 and 20. They should Stand on their good fortune without changing a thing.
What about the gray area in between? What should a player do when his in-hand total is between 9 and 16? This is certainly one of the trickiest decisions in any Blackjack online game. Thankfully, there is an excellent basic strategy that dictates exactly what players should do with mid-value totals to secure the best chance of beating the dealer.
There are only a few specific scenarios in a Blackjack online game in which a player is recommended to Double Down (double the original bet, take a Hit, and then Stand). In any given Blackjack online game, these recommendations are dependent both the player's card values as well as the dealer's up card.
- Double Down with a 5-5 pair unless the up card is worth 10 or 11.
- Double Down with a hard 11 unless the up card is an Ace.
- Double Down with a hard 10 unless the up card is worth 10 or 11.
- Double Down with a hard 9 only when the up card is a 3, 4, 5 or 6. |
