The game of backgammon has been played for centuries and has a good reputation of being a game of skill. However, there are some basic facts that you need to know before you can apply the talent that you have regarding the direction of the backgammon game.
The most important piece of information regarding backgammon is knowing the direction of the backgammon game. It would be impossible to play backgammon if you didn't know this. The backgammon board is set up by placing your 12 pieces on long triangles that are in a pattern of alternating colours of dark and light. There are two sections of the board, the outer and the inner (also known as the home board) board. It is your aim to move all your pieces from all over the board into your home board. This means that the direction of the backgammon game, your pieces are going to be moving in the opposite direction of your opponent making your home board is his starting board and visa versa.
When you follow your direction of the backgammon game, you will be the winner when you bear off all your pieces first. When your opponent has not had the chance to bear off any of his pieces and you have then it is a double victory called a gammon and this is the same as having a double win! You can get a backgammon or a triple win when you have completed bearing off before your opponent has and he has pieces in your home board. |
