As fun and exciting the game of backgammon is, not everyone is in it for the pure motive of the winning the game. Many expert players, when playing online backgammon for real money, insist on developing a money management system that works. The idea is to consider different factors when dealing with real money and knowing your limits. Remember that having a sound money management system eventually separates the winners from the losers in backgammon.
When going into a backgammon session, you need to set yourself upper and lower limits. Tell yourself that you will quit when you win enough to reach the upper limit or lose too much and therefore reach the lower limit. The key to this money management system is to set yourself goals and stick to them. Discipline is the key to all of this - without which you will find yourself digging yourself a deep hole without any means of getting out.
Another good money management tip comes with the doubling cube. During the game of backgammon, it is sometimes tempting to play 'until the end', despite what the signs are showing. If your opponent is much further ahead in the game and offers to redouble, you might want to consider throwing in the towel while your losses are still minimal. It makes much more sense to resign than to double the stakes and lose much more in the process, since your chances of winning are not good anyway. |
