| I have been playing backgammon in clubs and tournaments for over a decade and have decided to give online backgammon a try. Can anyone give me any suggestions on how to choose a good website to play on? I may want to start playing for money at some point, but for now I just want to find something for free to try it out and see how I like it. |

First of all, congratulations on getting online! I played offline for years and getting online was the best thing I ever did!
I would suggest, if you are looking for a good backgammon site, that you check out a few first. There are many free sites where you can play for free against other people all over the world. Most sites with an option to play backgammon for money will also allow you to download their software for free and play for free with play money. So download a few versions and see which site you like best. You may prefer some interfaces to others and you also may find that the competition is better on some sites than others. Once you have tried a few then you can choose which site you like best.
I don’t want to recommend you to any site in particular because each person has his or her own preferences and I think that it’s better for you to choose something for yourself. However, if you are thinking about playing for money in the future than I think it is a good idea to start playing for free on a site that offers the option to play for money. That way you can easily switch over when you decide you want to start playing backgammon for money. All you’ll have to do is fill out a form and made a deposit. Some websites even have fantastic deals when you sign up to play for money like deposit bonuses and free money for new players.
Personally, I like playing for money. I think that it adds a little more excitement to the game and that the competition is generally more serious. I have found a lot of problems with players dropping games in free backgammon, and this seems to happen a lot less when I play for money.
Good luck finding a site you like and maybe I’ll get a chance to play you sometime soon! |
