Although the western, or American version of the poker card game is the one that most people are familiar with, the growth in the following of Chinese Poker Online has done much to raise the profile of this Asian version of poker.
Chinese poker online is also sometimes known as Russian poker or Xap Xam (which sounds more oriental). It involves from two to four players. The game is played for points and each point is given a monetary value. Under the rules of Chinese poker online, each player is allotted thirteen cards and they organize their cards into 2 five-card hands, and 1 three-card hand. These hands are known as the back, middle and front hand respectively. The backhand needs to be higher than the middle hand, and this must be higher than the front hand, with the regular poker game card valuing rules used to determine the hands' values. Once these hands are arranged, the player needs to compare their hands against the equivalent hands held by the other players to see if they have a winning hand.
Among the attractions of Chinese poker online, players who are familiar with the western poker game can learn the rules very quickly. It also offers certain advantages to novice players in that the random element in the game is higher than in the western version, yet a good understanding of playing strategy remains a valuable asset and so more experienced players still find the game interesting. |
