I was told hat in the casino poker you can’t really truthfully say what your hand really is. They say that lying is totally ok, but you can’t tell the truth. This sounds bogus is it true?
I doesn’t sound right because even the truth could be taken strangely by your competition. People like Jamie Gold are always telling he truth about what’s in their hands. Just last week on he GUKPT, there were these two guys who were being candid together about what they had and they didn’t get in any trouble.
Another question, if your opponent raises 20,000 and you say raise $50,000 have you raised 50K or raised on top of the bet make it 70k? |

In response to your first question, when you are at the casino as long as you are in the hand you can say whatever you like until the dealer on the floor asks you to stay quit. You can’t say you have a certain hand on purpose to make your opponent screw his hand and then you show a losing hand or no hand.
In response to your second question: When discussing raising it usually means the total. But, I’m not sure f there is a standard for this. At the casino I play at, the dealers wait and see what the player will do and after that he says something. Some people mean a total 50k and others mean 50k on top of the last number. Usually if your action follows your words immediately it’s not a problem because you can see what the person meant. |
