If you are new to the game of backgammon, competition can be tough and frustrating - your opponents may be more experienced than you and that can make it hard to get ahead. In order for you to become a backgammon pro all you need to do is learn some basic backgammon strategy. There are many different strategies in the game of backgammon that you can use to improve your game immediately!
The first point to learn in basic backgammon strategy is how you should distribute your checkers across the board. As a rule of thumb, always try to keep your checkers evenly spread. This increases your chance of a successful roll.
Don’t be afraid to leave exposed checkers early in the game. Any experienced backgammon player will tell you that it’s basic backgammon strategy to leave exposed checkers as stepping-stones across the board that will help to advance you later in the game. Be bold! This is the only way to win!
Once you've thought about getting all of your checkers laid out you can start to think about hitting your opponent. There are two rules of basic backgammon strategy in relation to hitting. Firstly, try to hit your opponents more advanced checkers first in order to handicap their game. Secondly, only strike to hit your opponent when the move is advantageous to you - before hitting, make sure that the hit doesn't leave you vulnerable to an attack.
Put these backgammon strategies into play and you’ll be playing with the pros in no time! |
