As with any game, chance is a major factor to be considered. However, with these few backgammon winning strategies your game can be improved immensely. Here are your winning backgammon winning strategies for success:
Building-up your board strategy: the focus of this is to build-up points on the home board. There are two advantages to this maneuver; the first is that by making many points on your home board, you make it difficult for your opponent to escape. The second is that when you hit your opponent's blots, he will have difficulty reentering them, as a result preventing him from continuing the game, giving you full control over the board.
The downward sloping formation when bearing off strategy: to avoid wasting pips, you should aim for a downward sloping formation when removing checkers from the backgammon board. Remember with this formation you cannot hit, or be hit, therefore aim for an uneven distribution of checkers when bearing off the board. It is advised to build a larger stack on point 6, sloping down to 3 or 4. This maneuver avoids the need to use high numbers (e.g. 5 or 6) to bear off from point 4 later in the game.
The hit strategy: this is usually recommended when you are not sure which move to make. This is especially important to remember with regards to your opponent's board and a determining factor for winning the game.
The race ahead strategy: When you are ahead, stay ahead. It is a good idea that when you are in the lead trust this advantage and break contact.
The best backgammon winning strategy is to analyze your opponent's moves and to pick-up on his strategy as quickly as possible, enabling you to utilize the opposite strategy. By learning and then recognizing the different backgammon winning strategies you have a better chance of winning. Let's hope the dice are in your favor. |
