If you are new to the game of backgammon you are probably looking for some good backgammon strategy. The most helpful backgammon tip, especially for new players, is to pay attention to your opponent’s game and to hinder them by building a strong defensive front.
This backgammon tip is an important one to listen to. Defensive strategy can make or break your game. There are two main quadrants of the board that you should focus your defensive strategy in. The first quadrant is your opponent’s home board. By creating anchor points of two or more of your checkers here, you not only create surefire points to which you can re-enter the game should one of your checkers get hit and sent back to the bar, you also take up space which makes it more difficult for your opponent to reach all of his or her checkers to their home board. This defensive backgammon tip is also helpful because it keeps you in a position where you can hit opposing checkers that have already made it to the end and send your opponent’s game way back.
You should also work on defensive strategy in your own home board by building anchors and blockades there as well. If you fill your entire home board with rows of points with two or more of your own checkers you will block your opponent from entering the board at all, should you hit one of his or her checkers. This backgammon tip buys you time to move your checkers home and take the game! |
