Backgammon is a tricky game and understanding different methods of Backgammon strategy is really important. Here are a few tips for beginner players; one thing to remember is that you can only place a checker on an open point. This means that if the point has two or more checkers from the opposing player on it, you can not move your checker there. If the point has one checker on it from the opposing player, you can place your checker there and the opposing players checker must sit on the bar. Another thing to remember about Backgammon strategy has to do with how you place your checkers once the game has begun, after the beginning, initial set up. It is often not a good idea to put too many checkers on low points, especially points one and two. This can make you have less playing options as the game proceeds.
Another thing about backgammon strategy is to remember to be aware of doubling. Make sure of your position in the game at all times. If you think your opponent is about to double and you don't want him to, make a move that will make him or her not double. Backgammon strategy is all about taking into account all your options. When it is your turn and you are about to make a move, think about not just one possible move, but three and consider all the time how your opponent will respond to each one. You're bound for success if you play smart and it’s much more fun as well. |
