Setting up a backgammon board is as easy as one, two, and three. You just need to know from which points the checkers are placed and you’re good to start to play the game. To understand the basics of backgammon setup, you must first have some knowledge about the numbering of the points on the board.
The big black triangles on the backgammon board are called points. There are 24 points on a backgammon board. For player one his pints start on his right hand edge closest to his body. This first point is point 1. The points are numbered in a clockwise direction going from one to point 24 ending at his fart left corner. Player one's point 24 is players two’s point 1. Backgammon setup works the opposite for player two. His point one is at his closest left hand corner to his body and his points are numbered in a counter clockwise rotation towards point 24.
Backgammon setup involves checker placement which is the key to setting up a proper game. The checkers should be placed on the board as follows…Point 6 should have 5 checkers, point 8 should have 3 checkers, point 13 should have 5 checkers and point 24 should have 2 checkers. In a proper backgammon setup there should be a board, 30 checkers 15 for each played, dice and a doubling cube. Setting up the board is the first step to enjoying a great game of backgammon. If you are still unsure of the setup there are many other ways to get information on this. You can search online for diagrams of this setup and it will be easy for you to find. |
