The game of backgammon is simple to learn. Once you're up to speed with the backgammon rules, you can play backgammon online or with friends as often as you like. If you enjoy gambling, you could even win real money for your efforts in online backgammon tournaments.
Learning how to play backgammon can be fun. The first thing you need to know how to do if you want to learn backgammon rules is set up the backgammon board. If you're playing online, this is already done for you, however, you will still need to understand the different areas of the backgammon board for the purpose of the game. The board is made up of 24 triangles which roughly separate the board into four areas; two home boards and two outer boards. The board is separated by a bar that runs through its centre.
Each player uses two dice to move checkers around the board toward their home boards. A total of 30 checkers (15 per player) are used in the game and start off in three rows. As players roll the dice and move their checkers, they compete to occupy the best positions on the backgammon board. Two checkers can be used for each die or one checker can be moved the total number of spaces shown on both dice. These backgammon rules will become clearer if you study a backgammon board and watch a simple demonstration online.
Toward the end of the game, backgammon rules require you to move all your checkers to your home board and then remove them. This is known as bearing off and the first player to do so wins. |
