Backgammon opening moves are very simple to understand. Firstly, the game of backgammon is a two player game, therefore is played in alternating moves from player to his opponent and then back to the original player. There is an element of chance to this game but the majority of the moves that one makes can be learnt and practiced, not only with a partner in real life, but on the internet.
At the beginning of each game each player starts with one die and rolls them simultaneously to see which die has the highest number. The roll of the dice indicates the amount of pips or points (one of these is equal to one move on the board). If there is a tie with the initial rolling of the dice then the players continue to roll each of their dices until they roll differentiated numbers. The player with the die that is higher of the two is the one that has the advantage to make the fist backgammon opening moves. This first move is made using the numbers appearing on the dice at this initial stage. The game continues with the rolling two dice per each player's turn and moving the pieces accordingly.
Not only with the backgammon opening moves, but with all moves through out the game; pieces can only move in one direction and that is forward. Pieces may never move backwards!! The direction of play is from a player's inner board to their outer board. One player will be playing clockwise while the other anti-clockwise. Thus, one player's home board (inner board) is the opponents starting board (outer board) and visa versa.
As you have seen the backgammon opening moves are not that difficult and even people from the basic beginning can start playing this game that is considered to be the best game ever to have been thought up. |
