If you are new to playing backgammon for money, it is extremely important that you know about backgammon money management. Money management in backgammon entails choosing the appropriate stakes to play for so that you don’t exceed your bankroll.
In order to understand backgammon money management, you first need to understand the terms. Bankroll in backgammon is defined as the amount of money you have available to bet and are willing to lose in a given game or match. Backgammon stakes are the amount of money that is being wagered.
When thinking about backgammon money management, there are a couple of things you need to consider. Consider the number of games that will be played and how much money is being wagered for each. Remember, you should figure out the stakes based on your bankroll for total games, not just for the first game. If you start out with low stakes you can always double them with the doubling cube. You must also keep in mind that your opponent can double the stakes so you should give yourself some leeway when you managing money in backgammon in case this happens. If your opponent doubles to stakes out of your bankroll you may have to forfeit the game.
Some players get carried away when they start playing backgammon for money. They don’t think about backgammon money management at all because they are too excited about the prospects of winning. They raise the stakes higher than they should because they haven’t thought about the financial consequences. |
