The points are numbered for player one as follows…Point 1 is at the player's right on the edge closest to him. The points are numbered from right to left in a counter clockwise position. Point 24 is at the player's far right corner. Point 24 for the initial player is point 1 for his opponent. The checkers have to be placed on the points as follows, point 6 gets 5 checkers, point 8 gets 3 checkers, point 13 gets 5 checkers and point 24 gets 2 checkers.

Sometimes if you can bear off all your checkers in your home board before your opponent has beared off any. This is called a gammon.
