Hi everyone,
I’m a big fan of backgammon and I’d like to start playing online but the only problem is I’m using Mac OS X. Does anyone know of a good backgammon software (hopefully freeware so I can test it out) for Unix based OS? I’d really like to play at least against a virtual opponent but it would be even better to be able to connect to one of the larger networks of players like FIBS or even one of the commercial backgammon networks.
It seems some of the popular games on the net like poker are starting to take Unix users in mind but so far I can’t find much for backgammon. So any advice would be appreciated.
thanks! |

yes actually there are a few things you can check out if you're using unix of OS X to play backgammon on your computer. First is absolute backgammon which is a pretty cool software. it's shareware but it's cheap. Check it out here:
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19273
also check out this FTP:
snoopy.uni-muenster.de
the file is:
/pub/linux/X11/games/xgammon.0.95a.tar.gz
you can try these out at your own risk but I don't take responsibility for the second one especially if it's not a stable release. Well anywhere at least there are some options for Mac users. |
