The backgammon board is made up of four quadrants - your home board and out board across from those of your opponent. A bar separates the board down the middle. The board contains twenty-four triangular points by which you move your checkers around the board. Movements are determined by the rolling of two dice. The object of the game is to move your fifteen checkers around to your home board and to bear them off the board before your opponent. On your way around the board you may land on single opposing checkers on a point to send them back to the bar where they must re-enter through your home board. You may not land on a point with two or more opposing checkers. These rules don't change, whether you are an expert or playing backgammon for beginners.
It is now possible to practice backgammon and improve your skills online. Commercial backgammon websites offer backgammon software - both free and paid - for all skill levels, including backgammon for beginners. For beginners, free backgammon software is recommended. Paid sites generally have backgammon games for real money, but you should practice and improve your game with free sites before you start to compete for money.
Find an online backgammon website today and you can start to practice backgammon for beginners with opponents all over the world! |
