Backgammon Bots?

I know that there are poker robots that you can purchase and hook to your computer that are made of software that will play poker online for you. You can hook them up and watch the bots play for real money on poker websites without raising a finger. I was wondering if there are any programs like this for playing backgammon online and if there are, where are they available for download. Thanks.

I hope you aren’t asking because you would like to purchase a backgammon bot and hook it up to steal honest online backgammon players’ money. That would just be wrong.

To answer your question, no there are not backgammon equivalents of poker bots. There are programs like Snowie or Gnubg that will analyze backgammon games and tell you what the best move is in a given situation. People have been known to use these programs as they are playing online games and check with the programs before making their moves, but they cannot be hooked up to your browser and play backgammon for you. I should also mention that using Snowie or Gnubg in this manner is highly unfair and immoral, not to mention illegal and if you are caught doing this you will be kicked off of the backgammon website you are using. These programs are, however, a great way to analyze your games after the fact to see what you could have done better and improve your game.
