Hi there, I’m new to the game of online backgammon and I have some questions that I’ll put down in point form. Thanks for your attention.
1. What other book besides “Backgammon for Winners” by Robertie would you suggest?
2. If I go on to play for real money at a backgammon site, what are the chances of me playing against a person using a computer aid program?
3. Is it possible to play three games against an opponent and then the person who wins 2/3 wins the money?
4. Is it possible to find online backgammon sites with very low minimum deposit requirements?
5. Are random number generators rigged? Are they fair? |

Greetings… I’ll reply in correspondence to the numbers.
1. Try Walter Trice’s “Backgammon Boot Camp” for supplementary reading.
2. Obviously cheating will exist in every kind of game and you will find that some players using computer programs to help them win their games and matches. Over time, however, you will learn to identify who is playing ‘live’ and who is not. I would suggest sticking to free games or games with very low stakes until you have built yourself a circle of players who you enjoy playing against and whom you trust. Fortunately, cheating at online backgammon is rare.
3. Yes, it is possible to play matches of two points and up.
4. Some online backgammon sites require absolutely no minimum deposit. It is quite possible to make money on head-to-head play and in tournaments without initially making a deposit at the online backgammon site.
5. I have no reason to believe that RNGs are not fair. I’ve played a lot online over the years and have never had the perception of rigged RNGs. |
