There has been some debate over whether or not backgammon is considered gambling.
Gamers and governments everywhere have tried to decide if backgammon is gambling or not and whether it should be permitted.
Many people are defining gambling as a game in which the result is affected by luck over skill. Because of the roll of the dice, a lot of people are saying that backgammon is a game of luck and, therefore, gambling.
What percentage of the game of backgammon do you think is luck, and do you think backgammon is gambling? |

While I agree that backgammon is a game of luck management, I also think there are a few important things to point out.
The luck factor in the game of backgammon can be very big if you are looking at only one game or one match—sometimes all a game depends on is the luck of the next roll. You could have fantastic luck in one game and roll doubles the entire time! However, if you play backgammon a lot, your overall percentage of luck decreases and your skill becomes more important and the randomness of your rolls averages out. |

| It’s a waste of time to sit and think about what percentage of backgammon is luck and what percentage is skill. Backgammon is a game where you must know how to manage your luck. In other words, backgammon is 100% skill because you must use your skill to know how to manage your luck. |
