Poker is a great game which takes a very special person to excel in it. A wonderful poker player is usually described as someone who can read people well and fake people out. These attributes rarely describe the excellent online poker player.
This is because the online poker player usually can't see the faces of his opponents. He is not reading their facial expressions to see if they are bluffing. He is staring at the computer screen. To be an excellent online poker player you need to have other skills. For one thing, you need to be smart about the site you choose to play on. You need to choose a site with players who you think will become opponents you can beat and with stakes that suit your needs. A good online poker player also is very aware of his or her limits. They bet what they can and they are reasonable when they realize a type of game or play isn't going their way.
They also work more with a statistical strategy over an observational one. Because the online player cannot usually read his opponents visually, the online player must keep mathematical statistics in mind when betting his or her money. It's interesting to see and compare the two types of players, the online one and the other. Both types of play have their plusses. Just remember, if you're playing online to keep in mind the same things you would if you were playing in a casino. Money is still money if it's on a computer screen or in your pocket. |
